Orlando
is the amusement capital of the world, thanks to
Walt Disney World Resort. But the thrills don't
stop with Disney. SeaWorld, Ripley's Believe or
Not!, and a host of other theme parks and entertainments
have followed Disney's path to this city of magic.
Today, there is enough in Orlando to keep fun-seeking
children, and parents too, entertained for a long
time.
At the
same time, golf has taken a permanent and strong
root in Orlando with some of the best golf clubs,
resorts, daily fee courses, and golf schools that
you will find in the Sunshine State. My extended
trip to Orlando in April (1999) took me to two outstanding
resorts, Bay Hill and Mission
Inn, six of the finest daily-fee
courses you'll find anywhere, and to The
Faldo Golf Institute by
Marriott, where my game made measurable
improvement under the skilled and watchful eyes
of two young and engaging pros.
Not
only did these wonderful experiences reinvigorate
my zest for golf, they left me with the determination
to return to the City of Magic again as soon as
my calendar permits. After all, with such first-class
destinations as Grand Cypress Resort (a chip shot
from Disney's front door) and Grenelefe, site of
the 1998 PGA Tour qualifying school finals, still
to be visited, I hadn't even scratched the surface
of what Orlando offers for golfers.
You can
bet I have another Orlando trip down on my "Things
To Do" list. After you taste Orlando golf,
you will understand.
